Bob has been a resident of Southmont Borough since 1971 and has spent his entire life in the Johnstown area. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and was an educator for over thirty-six years. During that time, he spent a number of years coaching football and advising many other student activities as well as leading professional organizations. Bob is a former member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and has previously served Southmont in many capacities, as mayor for twenty years, as chairman of the West Hills Police Commission, as a police officer, as a firefighter and president of the Southmont Volunteer Fire Company, as a former and current member of the Greater Johnstown Cable Television Committee, and as a former and current member of the Cambria-Somerset Council of Governments. In the early 1970’s, along with Herb Ewald, he organized and started the Southmont Jubilee as a fundraising effort for the local fire department. Presently, he will be serving as a member of the Personnel Committee, as an alternate on the Police Commission, and as chairman of the Shade Tree Committee. Bob is married to Carol, also a former educator, and they have two children, Jill of Somerset and Jon of Hoboken, NJ. |
