The Borough of Southmont is accepting applications for the full-time position of Street Commissioner. All applications and attached materials should be submitted no later than 3:00 p.m., June 7, 2023. This position is responsible for directing, and supervising activities in the Street Department regarding maintenance and operation of streets, sewers, storm sewers, parks and recreation, and buildings and grounds, and coordinating and following through with work schedules and plans. Work involves administrative duties, along with direct working involvement, strenuous physical effort and frequent exposure to weather, work hours beyond set times, ability to use various equipment, perform moderate to heavy lifting, and handling materials and supplies. The Borough is looking for well-qualified candidates that are self-starters, able to work well with others, ability to manage and can maintain a professional attitude when conversing with the general public, subordinates and superiors, and be willing to be on call 24/7.
